“All I care about is finishing – that accomplishment”
Yeah, I crossed that line. No crowds. No cameras. Just me, my broken collar bone, bruised ribs, and a few pieces of tape holding everything together. The crash at mile 80 was excruciating. Dropping out would have hurt worse. A full marathon ahead. I focused and walked all 26 with one thought and only one thought, finish. At eight minutes to midnight, I nailed my spot for next year. Race day is hard. But finishing means I will race again. I live for the next start.
